Lovely Basam is 10 years old now! ๐ She came to us as a young girl in 2015 as one of the 20+ Rice Bunnies abandoned on Old Stage Road and taken to Monterey County Animal Services. We love her sweet cuddles, cheerful personality, and happy hops at mealtimes. ๐ฉท๐ ... See MoreSee Less
With so many animals having medical needs the last few weeks, weโve been super busy keeping everyone comfortable and shuttling them to the vet. ๐ฉบ A quick run down:
Topper had her incisor removal surgery last Friday with Dr. Wells. Sheโs eating pellets now, but is reluctant to tackle greens and hay just yet. Amazingly, she has no problem with blueberries or banana. ๐ Recheck next Tuesday.
Rex is eating lots of syringe feeding formula, and attempting some hay and pellets, so he is feeling better on the antibiotics. ๐ His molar removal surgery is scheduled for Tuesday.
Parfait has become disabled. Heโs still not completely comfortable with the humans moving him around and bathing him, but he is slowly settling in to the new routine. Heโs our oldest piggy now at 7 years, 8+ months. ๐ฅน
Tomiโs yeast infection has returned, so she is getting a medication spiked blueberry twice a day. Sadly, this isnโt a voluntary procedure, but she is a good girl and doesnโt try to peck us. ๐ซ
The cats all went in to see Dr. Eckerdt for their vaccinations and check ups. Thankfully everyone looks pretty good. Sherbet needs another touch up on his nose from Dr. Arteaga at the Animal Cancer Center, so weโll be making that appointment in the next few weeks. Margieโs thyroid medication has her stable, and she wonโt need bloodwork again until next year. Bandit, Tailey, and Gabby are all doing well, and Pip will be doing another round of antibiotics for his upper respiratory issues soon. ๐
Softy had his recheck on Tuesday. He is a happy boy again, up in weight and enjoying life with his girlfriends, Biscuit and Butters. ๐ฅณ The incisor opposing the one that was removed may or may not wear properly (we did give it a little trim a couple of weeks ago) so weโll have to keep an eye on that. Weโre so glad to see his sweet personality shining out again. ๐
This is a courtesy post. Lovely Chanel is looking for a new home where she doesnโt have to worry about dogs. Sheโs 3 years old, and very sweet, but, like most rabbits, can be shy at times and needs her space. She is litter box trained, loves to sit on laps and โis honestly a great bunny.โ Chanel currently lives in Stockton, CA. โจ

Tuesday vet day. Topperโs weepy eye and drooling came back, so we brought her in to see the vet this morning. Dr. Wells found a lump on her jaw, and thankfully had room in her schedule to perform a nasolacrimal duct flush and also surgery to remove the abscess. Topperโs now on an antibiotic, and we scheduled incisor removal surgery for next week. ๐ฆท๐ฐ
Rexโ jaw lump was increasing in size and his ability to eat was declining, so he also had an exam under anesthesia. The lump was found to be an abscess. Dr. Wells gave him a full dental and cleaned the abscess. Heโs also on an antibiotic now. Recheck in one week. ๐ฆท๐น ... See MoreSee Less
Tuesday was vet day. Rexโ X-rays show a bony growth on his lower jaw associated with a tooth root. Itโs not something we can repair surgically, unfortunately. Weโve upped his syringe feeding formula again, as he isnโt able to eat normally at all, and added an anti inflammatory in case of discomfort. Recheck in 2- 4 weeks. ๐ฆท ๐น
Topper has been having intermittent mucous discharge from her nose and a weepy eye. Of course she looked great at her appointment, so weโll watch her closely and take her in again if this continues. ๐๏ธ ๐
Amy had a checkup and her first RHDV2 vaccination. Return in 3 weeks for her second shot. ๐๐ ... See MoreSee Less
